About this book

The Road to Mecca is the autobiography of Muhammad Asad, born Leopold Weiss in 1900 in what is now Ukraine.

Asad describes his travels as a young journalist across the Middle East in the 1920s, his growing fascination with Islam, his conversion, and his years living in Arabia, including his friendship with King Abdulaziz. The narrative moves between a desert journey to Makkah and memories of how he came to Islam.

It is often described as one of the finest travel memoirs of the twentieth century.
