'Umar ibn al-Khattab: His Life and Times

About this book

This two-volume study by Dr. Ali Muhammad as-Sallabi covers the life and caliphate of 'Umar ibn al-Khattab.

It describes 'Umar's dramatic conversion, his strength and closeness to the Prophet ﷺ, and his leadership as the second caliph, when the Muslim state expanded into Persia, Syria, Jerusalem and Egypt. Sallabi gives particular attention to 'Umar's justice and administration — the treasury, the judiciary, the calendar, the army registers and his care for the poor.

It is detailed and well referenced.
